Courtyard House

A neglected infill site overlooked on all sides, for this project we reverted to the courtyard typology with a playfully choreographed entrance sequence.

A narrow track leads to an entrance loggia. This in turn reveals a long slowly descending arcade that reveals an elegant secret garden whilst gradually taking you to the front door of double height Miesian reception pavilion. Arranged around a focal hearth the living space offers views back into the yard. A low passage housing a long kitchen flanks the other side of the long courtyard. This passage takes you back to the lower level of the entrance pavilion with four bedrooms.
